For me, it's an upgrade on potential upside


I just think Mitch was at his ceiling already. Yes, he was a pinning machine but against who? When it came time to wrestle guys in the Top 25, he was extremely inconsistent and his weaknesses (lack of ability to score in the neutral) was further magnified against guys who were pretty strong themselves. Mitch was also weak on the bottom and I know that a few times, he dismissed advice from the coaches in favor of his approach and lost.

I think it's a wash next year as Sam will beat the same guys Mitch could beat. As tough as 141 is, Mitch wasn't going to beat those guys. Sam probably won't next year but he has a few strengths that could allow him a better shot.
